Late Sen. Kura laid to rest
Kano state Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and his Deputy, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo were among the hundreds of mourners that have attended the funeral prayer of late Sen. Ibrahim Kura Muhammad.
The funeral prayer which was led by the Chief Imam of Kura Central mosque, Alhaji Tijjani Abubakar was conducted around 2:30pm of yesterday at the Kura central mosque.
The prayer was also attended by members of the state executive council, top government functionaries, the Galadima of Kano, Alhaji Tijjani Hashim, the Madakin Kano, Alhaji Sunusi Yusuf Ciroma and the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
Others that attended the prayer included, Senator Ahmad Aruwa, Alhaji Sale Jambo, AVM Hamza Abdullahi (rtd), Gen. Salihi Magashi (rtd) and Brig. Gen. Halliru Akilu (rtd). the district head of Kura, Alhaji Tijjani Abubakar, and the district head of Ungogo, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad Chedi and Kura council chairman, Alhaji Shehu Na’allah among other symphasizers.
Also in attendance were the former governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Sa'idu Barda, the Wazirin Ringim, Major Sagir Muhammad (rtd), former Mines and Power Minister, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, the Dan'Adalan Kano District Head of Tofa, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa, Alhaji Tijjani Isma'il and the fomer ANPP chairman in Kano, Alhaji Ahmad Haruna Zago.
Late Sen. Kura Muhammad died on Tuesday at the age 65 after a brief illness leaving behind his aged mother, one wife Hajiya Aishatu Lili, 6 children, two grand children and many relatives.
The deceased was a one-time Senator that represented Kano Central Senatorial district between 1999 to 2003 at the National Assembly under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Until his death, late Sen. Ibrahim Kura Muhammad was a member of the recently inaugurated board of directors of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
He was burried at Goruba Cemetary at Kofar Gabas quarters in Kura town according to Islamic rites.
Speaking to newsmen after the funeral, the District Head of Kura, Alhaji Tijjani Abubakar described the death of late Kura as a great loss not only to the people of Kura local government area but to the entire nation.
In a related development, Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has also condoled with the Editor of the Leadership newspapers, Malam Ibrahim Sheme over the death of his wife, Malama Binta Salma Muhammad at the NNDC quarters, Kano .
