Laying artificial turf: KNSG gets kudos

HUNDREDS of soccer fans in Kano state have commended the state government for their commitment towards making Sani Abacha and Kano Pillars stadia up to FIFA standard.
Some of them who spoke with Daily Triumph Sports on the current laying of artificial turf at Sani Abacha Stadium yesterday, expressed satisfaction with the level of work going on at the stadium.
Alhaji Ado Musa Hungu, a Kano Pillars fans club member, said that the present administration of Malam (Dr.) Ibrahim Shekarau deserves commendation in this gigantic project.
According to him, all sports loving people in the state would definitely continue to remember the present administration’s efforts toward provided infrustrature that will enable the state to compete with any stadium within and outside the country.
Alhaji Hungu further explained that ‘’what we have seen today at the stadium is raising the hope of the state in beating the FIFA deadline.
‘’I am sure the stadium will be 100 percent ready for the hosting of the championship before July 26 given by the FIFA inspection team.’’ a one-time team manager of IBB FC said.
He said that ‘’even though the tournament is an affair of some few weeks, the government considered the general renovation project as a life-long sporting investment that the state will continue to benefit from.’’
Commenting also, the state chairman of Grassroots Soccer Development Organisation (GRASDO), Alhaji Garba Abdullahi described the laying of the arificial turf as very encouraging not only to the state government but also to the teeming youths in the state.
Alhaji Abdullahi however, called on the state government to as a matter of urgency constitute a committee that will safeguard the facilities before and after the championship.
The GRASDO boss expressed optimistic with the level of facilities put in place, adding Kano will maintain its impressive profile in the country.
He implored the people of the state to continue to give the state government their maximum support and cooperation toward the successful hosting of the tournament.
Alhaji Abdullahi also commended the state commissioner of information, sports, internal affairs and culture, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi as well as the state chairman of Kano sub-seat of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and special adviser to the state governor on sports development, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Mu’azu Kawu for their tireless efforts at actualising the dream of the people of the state.
