‘Molue’ driver in trouble for killing 6-yr-old
A Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on Monday granted bail to a 45-year-old commercial bus driver, Ganiyu Sarafadeen, charged with killing a six-year-old boy.
Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.A. Demi-Ajayi granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum after he pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of manslaughter.
He was accused of killing the boy and injuring his father and sister while driving dangerously on a public highway on Jan. 17 on the Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chinalu Uwadione, had submitted that the accused drove a long commercial Mercedeze Benz bus popularly called ‘Molue’ with Lagos Number XE 675 GGE recklessly killing the boy.
He said the boy, his father, Cpl. Horgan, and his sister, Philomena, aged eight years, resided at CBQ 66, Ikeja Cantoment, Lagos. The case has been adjourned till March 8 for further hearing.
