NSSF task govts, stakeholders...Begin 7-week meeting in Kano
By ADO SALISU
THE three tiers of government as well as stakeholders in the country have been called upon to assist Nigeria Schools Sports Federation (NSSF) toward promoting and developing various sporting activities, especially from the grassroots for the overall development of sports.
The NSSF president, Malam Ibrahim Muhammad made the call while declaring a seve-day executives meeting of the federation held at the conference room of Kano state Scholarship board yesterday.
The meeting which was sponsored by Kano state government and sterling bank, attracted over 30 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to him, there is the need for the federal, state and local governments as well as corporate organisations across the country to contribute positively to the federation in order to enable it to continue to scout for hidden talents for various national teams.
Malam Muhammad who doubles as the Executive secretary of the state scholarship board, further revealed that the federation has been contributing immensely in producing stars who represent the country at national and international engagements.
He pledged that NSSF will continue to work with various relevant authorities aimed at not only reviving the federation’s activities but also to recruit hidden talented athletes that could be useful for the country at international competitions.
He, however, said that plans are underway to visit the federal ministry of education, sports, state governors as well as other stakeholders toward moving the federation forward.
