Off-shore oil: RMAFC, agencies hold retreat in Kano

THE Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and other agencies are holding a retreat in Kano state to find ways and means of attributing offshore oil wells to littoral states.
Receiving the committee on a courtesy visit, Kano state acting governor, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo commended the effort of the commission for trying to safeguard the states’ allocations of revenue accruing for distributions according to constitutional provision.
Engr. Gwarzo hailed the composition of the committee and hoped they would achieve success in all their deliberations with a pledge to support the committee in all their needs.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Crude Oil Monitoring Committee, Alhaji Abu Gidado had said they were in the state to hold an inter-agency retreat in order to solve the problems of oil producing states.
He stated that such oil wells that are to be determined for which states they should belong will be clearly and transprently resolved by the meeting, once and for all.
Alhaji Gidado revealed that the decision of the Commission to choose Kano for such a meeting was due to the usual magnanimity of both its people and government.
He stated that the meeting was scheduled to hold in Katsina but shifted to Kano as the state was considered more suitable as far as the Commission was concerned.
The retreat involves the Technical Agencies, National Boundary Commission (NBC), Department of Resources (DPR), the Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGF) and the office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF
