PDP flags off campaign against May 24 re-run election

Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) flagged-off its campaign for the re-run gubernatorial election in Sokoto state slated for May 24,with the acting governor of the state assuring hundreds of thousands of people that gathered at the ceremony and the entire people of the state, that PDP government would recover all their stolen funds.
According to the acting governor, the state government would not allow those people that diverted the moneies meant for them to go scot free as there is a law, recently passed to that effect.
He charged the people of the state to remain prayerful and come out en-mass to vote for Wamakko during the re-run election.
The acting Governor who said his stay in office was like a student assigned by his teacher to look after his mates as he was going to ease himself, also said he was optimistic that Wamakko would bounce back to his position after the re-run election as he was tested and trusted by the peolple of the state due to his laudable achivements in less than a year he spent as the Governor of the state.
In his speech, the gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko said he was not in a campaign mission to Gwadabawa, the home town to the acting governor where the ceremony is taking place but to thank the people of the area for their overwhelming support to his candidature, assuring the people of the state that he would continue with all the programmes designed by his government for their welbeing and the state.
He said he has no grudge against the former Governor of the state as claimed by him, adding that his only offence that the former found unforgivable was his refusal to marry his sister and to agree with his plan of turbaning his father as an Emir.
Others who spoke at the occassion were, the Governor of Kebbi, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari; Senator Adamu Aliero; Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bello Haliru, and Vice Chairman of PDP in-charge of North-West, Dr Danladi Sankara who expressed satisfaction with the mammoth crowd at the ceremony.
