Peace, security, KNSG’s top priority -- Engr. Gwarzo

KANO state government has again raised concern on the issue of maintaining peace and security in the state.
The state deputy governor, Engr. Abdullahi T. Muhammad Gwarzo stated this when he received the Course 17th participants of the National War College, Abuja on a courtesy visit yesterday.
The participants who were on a strategic one week study tour are scheduled to visit some selected local government areas and government establish-ments.
Engr. Gwarzo, observed that the state being cosmopolitant in nature needs peace and security as these are of paramount importance.
He revealed that to achieve this goal, the state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau had appointed Special Advisers on Inter-Community Relations from the three major tribes in the state namely, Igbo, Yoruba and Ibira.
The deputy governor assured that the state is presently enjoying a peaceful and harmonious co-existence especially among the various communities, adding that such a development has enabled people to conduct their normal businesses in atmosphere.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Brigadier-General Garba Mairiga Ringim, had said they were in the state for a geo-strategic tour.
He explained that Kano was among the nine states other teams are touring which include Abia, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Cross River, Lagos, Kogi and Oyo.
Brigadier-General Ringim said the purpose was to avail themselves with the general overview of Kano, such as geography, culture and socio-economic reality of the state as well current efforts of the state government in promoting public private partnership and the impact of government programmes on its partnership.
He also assured that it is in recognition of the state geo-political nerve centre of the country, centre of commerce, the melting pot for Islamic and Western education and social justice that it was selected for this year’s tour.
