Premier League: Pillars' equaliser douses tension at SAS
THE much needed equaliser in the 90 minute doused the high tension at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata Kano, when defending champions Kano Pillars Football Club forced visiting Sharks of Port-Harcourt to a 1-1 draw.
The Kadiri Ikhana tutored boys who stormed the ancient city of Kano with different tactics failed to achieve in the first half of the game.
On resumption of the second half, Pillars came back more determined when Pillars' techincal crew used four strikers but equally failed to utilise several chances.
Subtitute Ibibo put Pillars and fans under pressure when he scored Sharks a beautiful goal in the 74th minute but which Pillars' players protested against for an earlier perceived foul. The match was held for over seven minutes before the game procceded and eventually Bala Muhammad pulled an equaliser for Pillars in the 90th minute.
The much needed equaliser doused the high tension as already some unpatriotic fans had tried to disrupt the game by throwing all obstacles into the pitch for which the stadium management had to station over 200 security in the arena for the safety of match officials and players of both sides.
It could be recalled last year, Kano Pillars defeated Sharks 2-1 in Port-Harcourt without any hitch.
The club management led by Alhaji Tukur Babangida needs to enlighten and educate the teeming fans in Kano to behave well in the interest of the state and its good Premier League:
