Shekarau commissions APCON’s Kano office complex
KANO zonal office of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) will be commissioned on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau.
The office is the first purpose-built zonal office complex of APCON apart from its operational head office, the APCON House, at National Theatre Annex, Iganmu, Lagos. Construction of the Kano office started in 2005 with a donation of N9.5 million made to the council by the British America Tobacco, Nigeria.
The complex located on the Eastern Bypass Hotoro-Arewa, Kano is built on two plots of land donated to the council by the Kano state government. It has facilities for offices, lecture classrooms, library and parking lot.
The APCON governing council is scheduled to hold its 116th meeting in Kano on Monday, August 4, 2008, as a prelude to the commissioning ceremony. The council meeting is being hosted by the Kano state government, as a demonstration of the state government’s support for the operations of APCON in the zone.
It will be recalled that the state government has at various times in the past, supported APCON through the hosting of its council meetings, provision of offices and cash donations in support of its various projects.
The council chairman, Mr. Chris Doghudje, expressed the council’s appreciation of the gestures by the Kano state government.
