Sule Y. Sule tennis tourney gets date
NINE Media houses in Kano state are expected to compete in the Sule Ya’u Sule tennis championship scheduled to hold from May 31 to June 7 at the Dominic Oneya Sports Complex, Press Centre, Kano.
The competition, which is sponsored by the director of press to the Kano state Governor, Malam Sule Ya’u Sule and organised by the state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), is expected to attract lucrative prizes and certificates at the end of the championship.
A statement jointly signed by the SWAN chairman and secretary, Mr. Mike Oboh and Ahmad Rufa’i Bello, said that the media houses expected to compete in the competition are: Triumph Publishing Company, Freedom FM Radio, Madobi FM Radio, Radio Kano, Correspondents Chapel, NTA, Kano, CTV 67, Raypower/AIT and information ministry.
According to them, the competition was part of the association’s programme aimed at maintainning cordial relationship among the media houses.
The association however, commended the competition’s sponsor, Alhaji Sule Ya’u Sule, for releasing the sum of N250,000 toward the successful organisation of the tournament.
The association, however, called on the participating teams to exhibit sportsmanship throughout the competition and pledged that all neccessary arrangements are in top gear toward a hitch free tournament.
Kano state commissioner of information, sports and culture, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, is expected to be the special guest of honour.
