AU okays Nigeria for UN Security Council
seat
The AU Candidature Committee has endorsed Nigeria for the UN
Security Council Non-Permanent Seat, the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) reports.
Mr Ayo Olukanni, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
disclosed this in a telephone interview with NAN from Sirte, Libya,
venue of the 13th ordinary session of the AU.

6 out of 10 medical complaints is
malarial in Jigawa-Health commissioner

The Jigawa state commissioner for Health, Dr. Ibrahim Nashabaru, has
lamented that available records have shown that six out of ten
patients who visit hospitals in the state complain of malaria, which
shows the need to fight the scourge jointly.
This statement was contained in a press release issued and signed by
the public relations officer of the ministry, Alhaji Abdullahi Wada,
a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Dutse.

Kidnappings worry Governor Orji
From GAMBO KANNO FUBARA, Umuahia
Abia state governor, Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji, has regretted
that the state has become notorious for kidnappings and observed
that though the menace did not start in the state, many young men
have taken to the crime because it is deemed lucrative.
Speaking while condoling the Commissioner of Police over the death
of five of his men by hoodlums in Aba , at the police headquarters
in Umuahia , Chief Theodore Orji who said he was saddened by the
unfortunate event extended his government’s condolence also to the
families of the slain Policemen .

Flying Eagles off to Qatar
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are on course to commence their final
preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals taking place in Egypt
in September this year as they flew out of the country on Wednesday
for a training camp in Qatar.
A team of 29 players and 10 technical officials flew out of Lagos
aboard Qatar Airways on Wednesday evening, and arrived Doha by
midnight.
The team will stay at the hostel of the ASPIRE Academy also located
within the Aspire Zone. After spending
