Flying Eagles off to Qatar
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are on course to commence their final
preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals taking place in
Egypt in September this year as they flew out of the country on
Wednesday for a training camp in Qatar.
A team of 29 players and 10 technical officials flew out of
Lagos aboard Qatar Airways on Wednesday evening, and arrived
Doha by midnight.
The team will stay at the hostel of the ASPIRE Academy also
located within the Aspire Zone. After spending 10 days in Doha,
the Flying Eagles will jet out for Cairo for a four–nation
invitational tournament that will also include hosts Egypt.
Siasia and his team will return to Doha at the end of July to
utilize the remaining 11 days on offer.
The training trip has been made possible through a collaboration
agreement between the Nigeria Football Federation and the Qatar
Football Association, as well as the Academy for Sports
Excellence (ASPIRE) based in Doha.
The world class sports academy has eye–popping facilities that
will help coach Samson Siasia put his players through some level
of hard work, to determine those who will be able to measure up
to World Cup standard.
