Fulham up Uche’s bid to £3.5m…After Almeria rejected
£2.5m
Latest reports emanating from England revealed that officials of
Fulham are ready to up their bid to around £3.5m after the club
had a £2.5million bid for Almeria striker Kalu Uche turned down.
The Nigerian, who has also been linked with Tottenham, is seen
by Roy Hodgson as the perfect man to beef up his forward options
ahead of next season’s Europa League campaign.
Almeria boss Hugo Sanchez is desperate to hang on to the
26-year-old, although a bid of around £3.5million may change his
mind.
It is unknown whether Almeria are willing to let the 5ft 10in
forward leave the Estadio del Mediterraneo this summer, but it
seems that the player is keen on a move to England.
“To play for Fulham is a sensational prospect for me,” Uche is
quoted as saying.
The 14-time capped Nigeria international, who has found the back
of the net twice for the Super Eagles, began his career with
Enyimba FC, before moving to Iwuanyanwu Nationale and Espanyol.
In 2001, he joined Polish club Wisla Krakow and scored ten goals
in 51 games before arriving at French team Girondins de Bordeaux
on loan in the 2004-05 campaign.
Uche has been with Almeria since 2005, and to date he has scored
23 goals in 112 appearances.
