IG
advises Kano people on maintenance of roads, drainages
THE people of Kano state have been advised to desist from
dumping of refuse and sand on roads and drainages to ensure
their maximum life span.
The state commissioner of projects monitoring and evaluation,
Alhaji Ibrahim Garba, gave the advice while inspecting the
completed Sardauna Crescent-Badawa road network in Nassarawa
local government area.
Alhaji Garba, according to a press release signed by Yahaya
Umar, public relations officer in the directorate, stated that
the advice is necessary because of the colossal amount of money
expended on many roads constructed by the present
administration.
He further explained that dumping of refuse and building
materials on the roads and in drainages would lead to the early
degradation of the infrastructure.
The commissioner therefore, urged beneficiary communities to
keep watchful eyes on the projects sited in their midst with a
view to getting value for the money spent on them.
Alhaji Garba expressed satisfaction over the quality execution
of the road project and commended the contractor for this feat.
He also directed the state Urban Planning and Development
Authority (KNUPDA) to remove all deposited materials on the road
as it would soon be commissioned by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau.
The commissioner then reiterated the determination of the
Shekarau administration to continue providing first-class
infrastructures for the overall rapid development of the state.
