to complete abandoned buildings before tenure ends
The Kano state government has restated its commitment to
complete all abandoned projects before the expiration of the
tenure of the administration.
A press release signed by the Directorate’s Public Relations
Officer, Yahaya Umar said, the state commissioner of projects
monitoring and evaluation, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba, made this known
when he visited the abandoned multi-storey Magwan Water
Restaurant in the state capital.
Alhaji Ibrahim Garba stated that it was in keeping with this
noble objective that the state government decided to lease the
hotel to a private company, Magwan Towers, Travels and Tours
Ltd. He said that the company would undertake the completion of
the project and develop it to a 5-star international hotel and
conference center which Protea Hotels would professionally
manage. The commissioner added that the leasing is for 25 years
after which the state government would take over the hotel.
Alhaji Ibrahim Garba further disclosed that the leasing company
would pay the state government the sum of N10 million annually,
totalling N250 million in 25 years. According to the
commissioner, arrangements are now in top gear for the take-off
of the project to be flagged off by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau
next month. Alhaji Ibrahim Garba assured the people of the state
that the leasing arrangement is to the best advantage of the
state as many economic opportunities would be opened up
following the completion of the gigantic project.
