Orji
thanks God for court victory
From GAMBO KANNO FUBARA, Umuahia
Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state has confessed that the
20-month Appeal Court case has negative effects on his
government, saying many development projects suffered due to
distractions.
Addressing a large crowd of people at Umuahia township stadium
on Thursday, during an interdenominational Christian
thanksgiving service for the success at the Appellate court,
Governor Orji told his detractors in the state that he would no
longer tolerate further distractions from any quarter.
Governor Orji, who said that the quiet disposition of his
government should not be taken as an act of cowardice, added
that he was thankful that the court case has ended.
He assured that his administration would never be pushed to the
wall by the opponents to do what it would regret, adding that he
only chose to overlook all negative the things they published
about his person, family and government.
He also said that he had forgiven all those who offended him,
and called for forgiveness from all those he might have offended
too, adding that, “They should tell us how and when we offended
them to avoid a reoccurrence”.
The governor, who said he organized the thanksgiving ceremony to
fulfil his promise to God, added that it was a bitter war with
the opposition in the state.
The occasion which witnessed sermons, exhortation and prayers by
clerics, also had in attendance dignitaries like past
administrators and party bigwigs.
The highpoint of the occasion was the special prayers held for
the governor, the deputy governor, the Speaker of the state
House of Assembly and their wives, as they all knelt down on the
podium.
The clergies, who prayed in turns, called on God to grant the
state and those at the helm of affairs protection, guidance and
blessings.
