Pillars get N30m lifeline
The management of Kano Pillars Football Club have confirmed the receipt of a sum of N30 million from the Kano state government.
The chairman of the club, Alhaji Tukur Babangida, in a statement signed by spokesman of the club, Shehu Adamu, said the players have consequently been paid additional 30 per cent of their 2008/2009 sign-on fees.
The players have earlier been paid 50 per cent with a promise that the remaining 20 per cent will be settled before the end of June, 2009.
Kano Pillars are one of Nigeria’s two representatives in the group phase of the CAF Champions League.
