PPA challenges new Abia cabinet
From GAMBO FUBARA KANNO, Umuahia
In view of the low performance recorded among some former commissioners in the dissolved cabinet of Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state, the leadership of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Abia state has warned that it will not hesitate to recommend the removal of any member in the new executive council, whose performance is below expectation.
Speaking during the meeting with the in-coming members of the state executive council, the PPA state chairman, Chief Emeka Onuoha, advised them to adhere to due process in the award of contracts.
The party boss also advised the commissioners to complement the efforts of Governor Orji to ensure that the party’s manifesto is implemented and dividends of democracy are delivered to the people.
He also commended the members of the state executive for successfully scaling through the screening exercise carried out by the state House of Assembly, adding that they should give their best, saying, “to whom much is given, much is expected”.
He also charged them to be transparent and encourage criss-crossing of ideas among themselves, stressing that supervision of projects must be given utmost attention.
The PPA party boss, who said that the present administration in the state was in a hurry to turn things around for better, added that, as a vanguard of government, the party would not fold its arms to see things go wrong.
