TI rates Nigeria 121st in corruption index
Nigeria, Togo and Sao Tome and Principe emerged the 121st countries in the 2008 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) rankings by Transparency Interna-tional.
The rankings released yesterday in Berlin put Nigeria ahead of 59 others in the ranking that involved 180 countries.
The CPI showed that Nigeria scored 2.7 in confidence rating in the 10 point mark.
Nigeria was ranked the most corrupt nation in the Transparency Interna-tional 1999 ranking.
Denmark, Sweden and New Zealand emerged first in the ranking with 9.1 confidence rating.
Britain took the 16th position with 7.7 points and was followed by Japan with 7.3.
Others on the list include South Africa and Seychelles, which came top among African countries, with a ranking of 54th position; Ghana 67; Burkina Faso 80; Benin 96 and Niger 115.
