Unity among healthcare providers stressed

CHIEF Medical Director of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Dr. Abdulhamid Isa Dutse has stressed the importance of unity among healthcare providers.
He made the disclosure at 2008 Annual General Meeting as well as Scientific Workshop of Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN), held at the conference hall of the State Primary Education Board.
According to him, the role of looking after people’s health is a very honourable task, explaining that every one must contribute his quota in that direction.
He said in order to ensure objectivity in carrying out their duties ,there is the need for a proper observance of law and order in the health sectors
Also speaking, the Director General of the state Hospital Management Board, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai observed that one of the challenges currently facing the state health sector, is inadequate number of doctors and nurses which would be tackled, and inadequate hospital equipment and infrastructure.
He however maintained that there are some hospitals that are currently under renovation by the state government.
He also stressed the need for a change of attitude when ever workers are discharging their responsibilities.
Dr. Yakasai said his organisation will not relent in ensuring adequate supervision toward a change of attitude in the health workers.
While speaking in an interview with Daily Triumph shortly after the occasion, the chairman of IISMA, Dr. Musa M. Borodo explained that his organisation sensitizes the health managers to provide effective healthcare delivery to the people.
In addition, he said, they also organize tutorials and lectures for health workers, as well as provision of assistance to the needy.
He said one of the achievements of his organisation is improvement in the attitude of health workers.
