Kano, Katsina get gas line soon... FG approves project, says minister
From MU'AWIYYA B. IDRIS, Katsina
The federal government has approved the extension of gas line from Ajaokuta to Kano and Katsina states, minister of state for mine and steel, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Gusau, has announced.
Speaking in Katsina yesterday, Alhaji Gusau said work for the extension of the line would soon commence.
He said that the federal government was committed to improving and ensuring maximum utilization of steel industries in the country.

Bauchi: Police battle ready for today's LG polls

Over 9,000 police officers and men of the Nigeria Police are ready for Bauchi state local government council elections slated for today.
Bauchi state police commissioner, Adanaya Talmon Gaya, announced while briefing chairmen and representatives of the 26 political parties at Police Officers Mess, Bauchi, Thursday on final security arrangements by police for the election.

Strike paralyses govt activities in Plateau
Civil servants in Plateau yesterday embarked on another round of strike, paralysing government activities over allegations that they were being short-changed in a recent agreement reached between government and labour.
The aggrieved workers stormed the Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat and demanded for the removal of the Head of Service, Dr Godfrey Mamzhi, who, they alleged, was behind their ordeal.
They carried placards and sealed government

 

Dolphins arrive in Kumasi, optimistic
Dolphins FC players and officials arrived in Accra on Wednesday morning and move to Accra after a four hour delay at the Kotoka International airport and are optimistic they will make it through to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Dolphins take a 2-0 advantage to Kumasi but have had little rest since they won the first leg tie in Calabar about ten days ago.
