Terror watch list: Reprieve for Nigeria soon--- Page assures
The U.S government has assured Nigeria that it would soon be delisted from its terror watch list, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ms Susan Page, gave the assurance yesterday.
She made the promise when she visited the Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Dalhatu Tafida, in London.
According to a statement by Mr. Demian Agwu, a minister in the commission, Page hinted that the list would be subjected to periodic review .
The statement sent to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja said Page expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon be considered for de-listing based on evidence of enhanced airport and aviation screening and cooperation with the U.S government.

Jonathan to preside over ECOWAS heads of state meeting
Acting President Goodluck Jonathan will chair the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government meeting scheduled to hold in Abuja on February 16.
In the previous meeting with Nigeria as the chair, ECOWAS had taken decisions on various issues, including the crises in Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mauritania and Niger Republic.
A source close to the Commission, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja that `` Nigeria is currently the chair of the sub-regional body and Jonathan as the acting President will chair the meeting.''

Oil, gas sector reform: Nigeria wants capacity building for drivers
The minister of petroleum resources, Dr Rilwanu Lukman, wants the World Bank to build the capacity of Nigerian professionals, expected to drive the reforms in the oil and gas sector.
The minister told senior officials of the bank in Abuja yesterday at an engagement that it was part of consultations with stakeholders toward the successful transformation of the petroleum industry.
Lukman said the capacity building was targeted particularly at those who would be directly involved in the implementation of the reform.

Ramat Cup kicks-off today
THE Speaker of Kano state House of Assembly, Hon. Abdul’Aziz Garba Gafasa is expected to declare open the 32nd edition of Under-16 late General Murtala Ramat Muhammad Cup International at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, today.
The competition which was organised by Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) is expected to attract 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja teams.
