Yuguda dismisses PDP's boycott of Bauchi LG polls
GovERNOR Isa Yuguda of Bauchi says the PDP has no justification to boycott the local government polls held on Saturday in the state.
Yuguda, who went round some polling units in Bauchi metropolis, told journalist that if PDP boycotted the election because some of its candidates were disqualified, ``candidates of other parties were also disqualified.''
"Well I do not know the reason behind the boycott. If all other parties are participating, I see no reason why the PDP cannot participate.
"If the boycott is informed by the disqualification of candidates by SIEC (Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission), based on its laid down criteria, I want to confirm to you that many candidates were disqualified from ANPP and we did not complain."
He expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the election.
Among the areas visited by the governor were Kangere,Yelwan Makaranta, Yelwan Tudu and Baban Sidi Primary School, where he cast his vote around 12.30p.m.
Addressing newsmen on Friday, the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Garba Noma said the party was withdrawing from the election because it was notified about the disqualification of 150 candidates less than 24 hours to the election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) however, observed that there was low turn out of voters in all the areas visited.
