Zonal Elimination: Katsina to storm Zamfara with 140 athletes

About 140 athletes and officials from Katsina state are expected to storm Zamfara state for the forthcoming zonal elimination of the National Sports Festival (NSF).
The zonal elimination competition is scheduled to kick-off in Zamfara state from May 29-5 June this year.
The state’s Director of Sports, Alhaji Aliyu Kofar Soro, told Daily Triumph Sports in Katsina in an interview that athletes to participate in the event will commence training next week. “They will be given intensive training before the zonal elimination competition,” he said.
The director said that during the intensive training, the state athletes will be accommodated, and provided with feeding and allowances.
Alhaji Kofar Soro said that at the competition, the state will participate in football, handball, basketball, hockey, volleyball and table tennis.
On the forthcoming National Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in November this year in Kaduna, he said government has made adequate provision of fund for the state’s contingents.
“Government has approved our request with regard to forthcoming National Sports festival,” he added.
Alhaji Kofar Soro, who commended the administration of Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema for boosting sports, called for philanthropists to complement government’s effort on area of sports.
